Pressing on for Christ
Testimonies from the True Life Church Camp at Equatorial Bangi,
13-17 June 2011
“A total of 205 campers attended this year’s church camp which was held at the Equatorial Bangi-Putrajaya, near Kuala Lumpur. I thank God for a blessed time of learning God’s Word together, worship and fellowship during the 5 days in a very conducive environment. Pastor ministered to us from the book of Philippians exhorting us to press on for Christ in 6 areas—for the Gospel of Christ, for the Unity of the Church, in Bearing Good Fruits of Salvation, in Defending the Word of Life, towards Perfection in Christ and in Practising the Christian Faith. For the first time, we had a separate programme for members of our Chinese Service and we thank God for Rev Lee Kim Shong and Rev Koa Keng Woo whose faithful teaching was well received by the brethren. The Lord is good. Thank God also for His mercy and protection on every camper and bringing everyone safely back, including those who drove up on their own. It was a great time of fellowship and truly a foretaste of heaven here on earth. To God be the glory!” Dn Tan Beng Lee (Campmaster)
“I really thank God and True Life for enabling me to join her Church camp every year for a blessed time of learning from God’s Word, having fellowship with like-minded brethren and having some rest from this troubled world. How I thank God for recently granting FEBC the victory, and for the theme message, ‘Pressing on for Christ.’ I have been so much encouraged and challenged by God’s Word spoken by His servants at the Church camp. Praise the Lord!” Rev Hien Nguyen, Pastor of Brisbane BPC
“I would like to praise and thank God that my mother could join us for this church camp, which is her first, to have a foretaste of heaven on earth. We experienced how like-minded brethren in Christ can dwell together in unity and be taught God’s Word and have fellowship one with another. I have also learned an important lesson in ‘Pressing on for Christ in Practising the Christian Faith’, that we should not just live out our lives in action and deed but more importantly we should attend to that which is within and invisible, namely, our thoughts and the intention of our hearts. Praise God for His goodness and grace to all our campers.” Dn Charles Kan
“On behalf of True Life’s Chinese Service, we would like to thank God, the Session of True Life and also the Camp Committee for organising a Chinese section for this year’s Bible Camp. Looking back at the past 13 months since the Chinese Service’s inception, we have seen the Lord’s hand in leading, guiding and blessing every work done in His name. The Chinese Fellowship meets every two months, and by God’s grace we have just started a small choir, to sing the good old gospel hymns in Chinese! Looking forward, we trust the Lord to continue to watch over the Chinese Service, that it may be greatly used to bring the Gospel to the unsaved, and to hasten the Lord’s coming!” Dn Tai Mern Yee
“We thank God for blessing our family with spiritual food delivered by His faithful servants. We thank God that my mother was able to join us this time round. It was her first church camp after being a Christian for more than 20 years. She was very much blessed by God’s Word delivered by Rev Koa and Rev Lee.” Chua Peng Hwa
“Thank the Lord for a very blessed church camp this year. Our family has truly benefitted richly from the camp. We thank God for safety and good health throughout the camp, especially in our travel for helping Ian go through the flight and taxi ride to the hotel. We have also been greatly blessed by the messages preached by our beloved pastor and the devotions by various speakers. It is a timely reminder in these times to press on for Christ and it made us realise that the work of our Lord is truly urgent and pressing. We are also especially thankful for the time we could spend in fellowship with our dear brothers and sisters in Christ. Such moments are so precious! God willing, our family will surely be at the next church camp!” Ming Wei & Bernice
“Praise God for a truly wonderful camp which is a foretaste of heaven on earth! Thank God for the camp committee’s hard work in overseeing all the minute details. I truly thank the Lord especially for the solid spiritual feasting given by our pastor and all the devotion speakers. I am thankful for the reminder on how we must press on in all aspects of our Christian faith and practice. I thank God too for the blessed opportunity to fellowship and get to know many brethren whom I did not know before. May all praise and glory be to God!” Alice Chng
“Praise Almighty God for giving me this privilege to attend the Church Bible camp for the first time since True Life was formed in RELC. I thank God for a refreshing session with God through the messages on ‘Pressing on for Christ’. I learnt that the Gospel is the Word of Life. Reading the Bible daily gives me inspiration to walk the right and narrow way with God. Praying in my quiet time and reflecting draws me nearer to God. Salvation is by Grace. I learnt that Faith is by hearing the Word of God. I am counting all the blessings He has given to me despite many trials and tribulations. I would like to thank the Lord for sending me good roommates like Elizabeth and Regina who bear with and care for me. All praise to our God and Saviour Jesus Christ.” Shirley Gan
“I would like to thank the Lord for giving my family the opportunity to go to the church camp this year. The Lord is good to us. Our son Timothy had fever on the first day and on Tuesday night. However the fever was totally gone on Wednesday morning. Though I did not sleep well on the first two nights, I thank the Lord for giving me strength to participate in the worship services. Thanks to the Lord for Dr Mei Lan. Thanks to the Lord for brothers and sisters who kept asking ‘how is your son?’ Thanks to the Lord for everything. ‘Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path’ (Ps 119:105).” Desy
“The elderly folks who attended have been a great encouragement to me. Despite their old age and difficulty in walking, they came with great eagerness to listen to God’s words. Sometimes they might have aches and pains, but they always looked so joyful. This camp reminded me once again to serve the Lord with pure motives and not for the praises of man. I have been urged to fill my mind with things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report and of virtue, and I must not complain but always be thankful.” Jane Goh
“This year’s Church Camp has been a very fruitful one. During the camp, I learnt a lot about ‘Pressing on for Christ’. I also benefited from the morning devotions. I had the chance to fellowship with different people during meal times, and I joined the Youth Choir for the first time. I really thank God for His goodness towards me, and I pray that next year, the Lord would be merciful and I would be able to join the church camp again.” Tai Cae Ryn
“There is indeed much to thank the Lord for. How gracious and merciful He has been towards me. I truly thank God for bringing me to the church camp. I was able to communicate with my friends and make new friends. I must thank God for not giving up on me and that He will always be there for me. ‘Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice’ (Phil 4:4).” Katherine Kiew
“I want to thank God for this whole camp. It has been great spiritually and physically. It has also been a very sobering period for me as I realised there was a lot more to learn from the Bible than I thought. Thank God too that we were able to fellowship with our brethren in the form of games, soccer, swimming, etc. I also want to thank God that I was able to join the Youth Choir for the first time and the Children’s choir too. I was able to learn about Elijah and the KJV Bible through our teachers, Aunty Jenny, Uncle Herbert and Uncle Clement. Church camp has been a wonderful time for me. Praise the Lord for He is good!” Tai Dae Ern
“This camp is fun. So here I am. I would like to thank God for healing my ear. The lessons on how the Bible was written and from Daniel were very interesting. I praise the Lord for helping me stay up until the thanksgiving and testimonies end.” Thaddeus Wong
“During the church camp, Aunty Jenny taught us about the books of the Old Testament and told us to memorise the 66 books of the Bible. The food was very delicious. I enjoyed myself very much during the camp. During the breaks, I went swimming with my siblings and friends. I was very happy to see both of my grandparents come.” Han Shih Min
“From this church camp, I learnt about Elijah. We had a lot of fun while learning God’s Word. We learned how the Bible was written and how it was 100% inspired and preserved. In our free time, we swam and played badminton. I would like to come for next year’s camp. Praise the Lord!” Titus Ng
“During the church camp, I learnt about Daniel and his three friends. They were faithful to God even when times were tough. When King Nebuchadnezzar built the golden image, Daniel’s friends refused to worship it, but worshipped the one true and living God. I really enjoyed this church camp and God willing, I want to go to next year’s church camp with my family. Praise God!” Anne Chan
