Korean Service @ True Life!

This Lord’s Day, October 29, 2006, which is Reformation Sunday, sees the birth of a new Korean worship service at True Life B-P Church. Rev Park Seung Kyu and Preacher Kim Hak Soo, both graduates of the Far Eastern Bible College (FEBC), will oversee this work. Rev Park was ordained by the PyungSeo Presbytery of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Korea, and served as evangelist, preacher and pastor of the SuYu Glory Bible Presbyterian Church in Korea since 1993. He earned his BA and MDiv from the College and Seminary of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Korea, his BRE from FEBC, and an MA in Western History from KyungHee University. He is currently a PhD candidate of KyungHee University, and writing his dissertation on Puritan History. Lately, on his way to Aberdeen, UK, for further research and studies, he made a stopover in Singapore and paid FEBC a visit. During his stay in Singapore, he received a “Macedonian Call.” The Korean brethren have been praying for a Korean Bible-Presbyterian witness in Singapore. The Lord redirected his path, and moved his heart to start a new Korean ministry in Singapore under the auspices of True Life B-P Church. Preacher Kim Hak Soo, who graduated from FEBC with a BTh in 1999, who had served in the Korean Church in Singapore under Rev Son Jung Chul, will assist in this new work.

This new Korean outreach is in the spirit of the 21st Century Reformation Movement. Both Rev Park and Pr Kim share the same vision and mission as True Life and FEBC to defend the forever infallible and inerrant words of the Holy Scriptures, 100% inspired and 100% preserved, and to promote the gospel of Jesus Christ in obedience to the Great Commission. Rev Park is the Assistant Recording Secretary of the Far Eastern Council of Christian Churches (FECCC) which is the Regional Council of Asia and Far East of the International Council of Christian Churches (ICCC). The battle today is again the battle for the Bible, and for the Biblical doctrine of the Verbal Plenary Preservation (VPP) of the Holy Scriptures no less. Many are working hard to silence this voice for the present perfection of the Holy Scriptures, but if this voice is of God, no one can silence it (Acts 5:38-39, 2 Cor 13:8). The voice of our Lord Jesus Christ rings loud and clear today, “For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled” (Matt 5:18), “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away” (Matt 24:35).

Our Korean brethren meet in Chancery Room (#503). They have 2 services, a morning service at 10.30, and an afternoon service at one. If you have Korean friends, do welcome them to our Korean worship service.

Praise the Lord for another witness!

Brisbane Bible-Presbyterian Church

A Report from Hien Nguyen

I do thank God and praise the Lord for His grace and mercy upon me that I got a sound and Biblical training at the Far Eastern Bible College and then became a missionary preacher of True Life Bible-Presbyterian Church. By God’s grace we first started a Bible study at a library in July 2004 and then at our home in October 2004 with Bro Robert, Sis Karen and Bro Walter. We had our Sunday worship at our home since February 2005. We thank God that Bro Tim, Sis Anne and Zac from New Zealand came to Brisbane in January 2006, so we had enough members (seven) to register the church. We hired a community hall for our Sunday worship in April 2006. We thank and praise the Lord that Brisbane Bible-Presbyterian Church was registered officially on August 28, 2006 and now we have our Sunday worship at 2.00 pm at a new venue at St John’s Presbyterian Church. We have been so much encouraged by brethren from here and there who visited us and joined our Bible study and worship, especially Rev Stephen Khoo who came to conduct the Lord’s Supper last month.

Thank God that a few new friends have joined our Bible study or Sunday worship although they are not committed to joining us regularly. I see that I am useless, hopeless and helpless, but God has graciously sustained me and helped me preach His fully inspired and fully preserved Word faithfully and press on with the ministry here. Thanks and praise be to the Lord alone! I do appreciate your prayers.

A Blessed Anniversary

Dear Rev Dr Timothy Tow, Rev Dr Jeffrey Khoo, Session and congregation of True Life Bible-Presbyterian Church, Singapore:

Greetings in the blessed name of our risen Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The Session and congregation of Faith Presbyterian Church (Perth) send greetings on the occasion of the third “Thanksgiving Anniversary Service” of True Life Bible-Presbyterian Church.

Praise the Lord for the faithfulness of the ministry during the past three years, standing for the Lord in the manner of the Reformers, challenging the attacks on God’s Word and enduring deceitful and malicious attacks (Matt 5:10). This type of witness is becoming rare in Christendom.

It is interesting that the ministry of True Life Bible-Presbyterian Church began at the beginning of October (Reformation month) and Reformation Sunday is at the end of the same month. It is encouraging to hear of the constant reminders of the Reformation and for your involvement in the 21st Century Reformation.

Praise God also for the various ministries of True Life Bible-Presbyterian Church, and especially for the Far Eastern Bible College, which has been a Lighthouse for many years in the world of darkness. It is good to be reminded of the precious promises of God’s Word as you continue to preach the gospel and proclaim the truth. “Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?” (Gal 4:16).

The Words of Jesus Christ, reminds us of those who seek popularity instead of faithfulness in ministry, “Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets” (Luke 6:26).

May the Lord continue to strengthen the ministry with all the challenges ahead as we look forward to His soon Coming.

In His Service,
Rev Errol D Stone,
Session and Congregation,
Faith Presbyterian Church—Perth

THE GOSPEL OF LIFE: I John; 2 John; 3 John

The Epistles of Life

Although John’s name is not mentioned in these three Epistles which are attributed to him, “There are such close affinities with the Fourth Gospel in style and subject matter that most scholars agree that the four writings are from the same hand” (New Bible Commentary).

And inasmuch as the Fourth Gospel is written “that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through His Name” (John 20:31), these Epistles are written “unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life” (I John 5:13). As we have called John’s Gospel the Gospel of Life, so are we led to call these companion writings the Epistles of Life. What in the whole world can compare with life? “For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?” (Luke 9:25). The Gospel of Life is to lead you into Life. The Epistles of Life are to establish you in the Life, that you might not merely hope for Salvation but know for sure you have it. These Epistles are Doctrines of Everlasting Life.

The Epistles are a further extension of the Gospel in that they are an exposition of the Gospel and a defence of the Gospel. For the early Church was already under attack of the evil one, the spirit of antichrist, through heresies and worldly philosophies, so that schisms began to hurt the unity of the Church (1 John 2:19). While these Epistles are a strong refutation of the erroneous claims of Gnosticism, that salvation comes through initiation into their system of “knowledge”, which denies an incarnate Christ, positively, they teach righteousness of life, brotherly love, and faith in Jesus, God in the flesh. God is love and God is light, but God is above all our Heavenly Father and we His little children. And we should seek Him and keep ourselves from idols!

“Words of Life and beauty. Teach me faith and duty, Wonderful words of Life.”
