GOD’S SPECIAL CARE FOR HIS CHILDREN

God’s Sovereign Plan for Me

Ever since young, I was taught about God, the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Bible stories. I knew almost all the Bible stories in my head, but I didn’t know the deeper truths behind each story. I believed that since I was born into a Christian family, I was a Christian too. So I went on with my life believing that “fact”.

When we were in Japan, Rev Robert Kluttz, my family and I would usually go out to evangelise door-to-door (actually, it was more mail-box to mail-box because most of the Japanese refuse to listen to the Gospel). But one ordinary, wintry day, we just went as a family. I was sorting out tracts to give out with my father when one tract stood out from all the rest. It was a tract with the illustration of hell and people suffering in it. The thought suddenly struck me when I looked at the picture that if I didn’t accept Christ as my personal Saviour, I would be one of them. I just held up that tract to my father, tears in my eyes, and he understood what I meant.

I remember how he put me to his lap, told me the gospel story. The gospel story was never so real to me before. I told him I wanted to be saved, so right then and there, I asked Jesus Christ to come into my heart and I wanted to be a child of God. I was eight years old then, and so I went out for evangelism more joyous and zealous.

After that, I believed that a person needed to believe Christ personally to enter heaven. I believed that God sent His only begotten Son just to die for each and every one of us, rose on the third day and that if I wanted to go to heaven when I die, I had to confess with my own mouth that I believe in Him and that indeed I’m a sinner saved by grace. I believe God has a purpose for choosing me as one of His elect. I can see His hand guiding me through life. How He made my father study veterinary medicine, how he led my father to Japan to study further, to meet an American missionary and be saved. How months later my mother also came to salvation and how He brought me to this earth and be His child for a purpose.

I was dedicated to the Lord by my parents when I was a baby, but now, I want to be baptised, to publicly profess that I am a Christian and that I want to be God’s obedient child. To God be the glory! Thessa B Lagapa

I Am Special in God’s Eyes

I went through infant baptism not long after I was born. It is not easy to trust GOD in all situations good or bad. I was not and still am not a very clever girl. Moreover, I was disappointed with GOD for making me very short. In the past, to be very, very honest, I did not really trust in GOD, as I thought that GOD did not really like me as much as other children. But GOD had other plans….

I told GOD my problems so that He could help me to cope with them; all types of problems—being late for school, homework, and other things. I had learnt a lot of meaningful lessons from Sunday school teachers, children worship teachers, YPF preachers, Pastor Jeffrey Khoo, and of course, from the Spirit who taught me. I thank the Lord for helping me understand those lessons about the importance of the Ten Commandments and other topics, and helping me become a better person through listening and obeying GOD.

Lately, as I attended more Children’s Worship and Sunday School classes, Bible camps and YPFs, I started to learn that when GOD removes something in our life, He will replace it with something else and GOD will give things that we can use to serve Him, and that everyone of us is special in GOD’s eyes no matter who we are. So I decided I wanted to go through catechism classes and reaffirm my faith. I want to learn more about GOD Himself and His Holy Word which is none other than the BIBLE. “And he said unto me, my grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” (2 Cor 12:9). Charlotte Yap

God Helped Me to Grow in Faith

I was born into a Christian family. When I was an infant, I was baptised by Pastor Timothy Tow. God has helped me and looked after me in many ways, from daily life to school life. I am most thankful to God that I was born into a Christian family and grew up in a Christian environment. So from young I heard the gospel. My parents would explain to me the difference between Christianity and the other religions. For example, all religions are about man seeking God, but Christianity is about God reaching out to man.

I would like to thank God for saving me when I was about 5 years old during a church camp at Colmar Tropicale in June 2006. I prayed with one of the Sunday School teachers who was praying for children who had not accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. After accepting Jesus as my Saviour, He has helped me to grow in faith and walk closer to Him. By praying and reading the Bible, I have learnt many Bible stories of godly men and women, and about God. Being taught and raised up in a Christian family and attending church have enabled me to walk closer to God. Despite not facing any major hardship in my life so far, I am confident that if I were to face one today, I would overcome it with God’s help. Noah Tai

God Protected and Kept Me Safe

Since young, I’ve been well taught in church about how gracious and merciful God is and His great love for us. I also learnt many things about Christianity, and knowing that I’m a sinner, I’ve always regarded Jesus as my one and only Saviour. Despite being in a very dangerous accident at a young age, I was protected and kept safe even until today. This is a miracle I myself witnessed, and I believe this is how God protects His children. I wholeheartedly believe in Him and trust that He would continue to guide me and help me in the trials and difficulties I would face as a Christian in future. I am prepared to walk the straight and narrow path for my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Victoria Cheow

God Is Looking after Me

I’m blessed to be born into a Christian family where my parents bring the whole family to church every Sunday morning. I thank GOD for dad and mom who bring me to church from a very young age so that I can learn of GOD’s great love, that GOD is holy, righteous and merciful. Even though we all are sinners and should die for eternity, HE died for us and washed all our sins away so we can repent and go up to heaven to be with HIM.

I thank GOD for Aunty Jenny too as she prayed with me and comforted me when I had a tough problem in primary 6. When I reached the age of 12, when I could pray to GOD by myself, I learnt to thank GOD and asked HIM for help at any time of my life.

Now I’m 14, I can feel that GOD is looking after me. I have problems in school, but after praying to GOD, I started to be able to control myself and my problems were resolved. I also thank GOD for a pretty good head-start this year in planning to do well in my studies, and I hope HE can continue to help me in my days here on earth, to be a better Christian and to increase my love for HIM day by day. God Has Helped Me Walk Closer to Him

Before knowing about God and receiving Christ as my personal Saviour, my parents brought me to Life BPC. In 2003, we switched to True Life BPC when Rev Tow started the church. I attended Sunday School every week to learn about God. I realised that everyone is born a sinner and nobody is perfect except God. If I did not repent of my sins, I would go to hell. The only way to be saved was to believe on Jesus Christ that He died on the cross for my sins and on the third day He arose from the grave. After being a Christian, God has helped me walk closer to Him. Reading the Bible and praying daily help me to listen and talk to God. Believing in Him makes me want to listen and obey Him, and also my parents and elders. I thank God for His mercy and grace in saving me. Andre Wong

I Have Experienced God’s Bountiful Blessings

I truly thank God for the great privilege to be His adopted child. Through the Sunday school and Junior Worship classes, I learnt many important doctrines in the Bible. Jesus paid a great price by dying on the cross for my sins. He is merciful and gracious to me, a sinner saved by His grace. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Eph 2:8, 9).

I am seeking reaffirmation of my faith as I was infant-baptised. Having gone through the PSLE exams which I considered as the toughest challenge in my life, I have experienced God’s bountiful blessings as He gave wisdom and perseverance. “O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.” (Ps 34:8).
