FEBC RENOVATION UPDATE

The renovations are about 80% done. Intensive work was done during the college vacation months of May and June.

The whole L/Extension-Block is given a new coat of paint. Linen white and stone ridge were the two colours used—linen white for the main walls and stone ridge for the pillars and borders. Singapore Paints & Contractors did an excellent job. It was God’s providence that led us to this company. We saved a great deal on costs without compromising quality and paint (Nippon). The painters were Myanmese from the Mon tribe. They were skillful and efficient. With the new paint, the L/Extension-Block has a European look and blends well with the church sanctuary with its columns and Beulah House with its turret.

The old electrical wires of the whole L/Extension-Block have also been replaced with new ones. Life BPC has already separated the electrical metering system so that the electrical bills can be separately charged. FEBC pays only for what she has consumed. Last month, FEBC’s bill for utilities (electricity, water, refuse) at the L/Extension Block and Beulah House amounted to $4,108.99.

The floor of the back area and side apron of the L-Annex which was uneven is now levelled and repaved with new cement. A cement pump truck was used to pour 44.5 cubit metres of cement onto this area. A retractable awning will be installed to provide shelter over this area which will become a dining area for students when it rains. Otherwise, students dine alfresco under the royal palms by the Galilee pond.

The men’s dormitories have new built-in wardrobes, ceiling fans and roller blinds. Thirty-six IKEA study tables were purchased for the rooms. The two male toilets are totally waterproofed and retiled with new pipes, urinals, showers and basins.

The parsonage has a newly renovated kitchen. The two bathrooms are also waterproofed and retiled. The bedrooms have new wardrobes.

The ground floor public toilets are renewed completely and more spacious. The renovated Mousehole with attached bath will serve as a guestroom. Work is still ongoing at the FEBC lecture hall, kitchen and storeroom. The kitchen will have a new freezer, chiller and oven.

Students should be ready for a big clean up soon. The premises should be spick-and-span for the college reopening on July 20.

I THANK GOD

“As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: So the LORD alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him.” (Deut 32:11-12).

I thank God for bringing me through the eight semesters of studies at Far Eastern Bible College (FEBC). It is of the LORD’s mercies that I am not consumed. Thank God for many many lessons that I have learnt in FEBC. I thank God for all the lecturers who taught me. May God remember their labour and reward them accordingly. I thank God for True Life B-P Church for supporting my studies here. May God bless all of you richly.

I am very happy that I can finish my studies. I firmly believe that I cannot achieve anything if God does not bestow His grace upon me. Even if I work diligently, I can still get nothing. My studies here are all based on Christ, the firm and solid foundation alone. He grants me grace, patience, perseverance.

I thank God for protecting my eyesight. When I first came here, I found that many people wore spectacles. From that moment I started to pray to God to keep my eyesight.

Thank God for keeping me alert to do the daily duties in college. Truly it is a way of testing a believer’s faithfulness towards God. God has showed me that He wants the men who serve Him to be found faithful (1 Cor 4:2), and the one wants to be faithful must start to do it from that which is least (Luke 16:10).

I thank God for giving me faithful friends, even in China. We contact and pray for one another, share prayer items, joy, thanksgiving and struggles. And these friends in the Lord are for life.

Thank God for being with me all the four years, I know better that He is my God and I am His child. He never leaves me alone. Blessing and honour and glory and power be unto the Triune God forever and ever. Li Yage (BRE 2015)
