FAITHFUL TO THE END

Testimonies from the YPF Camp 2012

Thank God for His grace, provision and protection over the five days in camp and for the ministers of the Word! Thank God for the labour of love of the adults/parents who contributed in many ways, before and during the camp. Thank God for helping me to keep my focus on Him. I learned and relearned many things in this camp, through the messages about sound doctrines and practices. Samuel Goh

When I heard about the YPF camp and its theme, ‘Faithful to the End’, my heart was moved to attend this camp. I purposed in my heart to be receptive to God’s Word. During this camp, the messages not only encouraged my weak faith, but also convicted me of my sinful ways. Hence, this camp has truly been the most meaningful one to me because I have truly found the joy in serving Him, not doubting Him anymore, but to continue fighting the good fight, to finish the course and to keep the faith (2 Tim 4:7). Phoebe Tay

I thank God that I could come to this YPF camp, which is my first YPF camp. Thank the Lord for His goodness and mercies throughout my life. Although I was like a prodigal son, I thank the Lord for being such a loving and caring heavenly Father. Praise the Lord for being able to come to this camp to learn more about His Word and His doctrines. I have been encouraged by group sharings as we share our personal struggles. It has been a reflective camp. Throughout the camp, I was spiritually awakened and jolted. David Tay

In this camp, God taught me through the morning devotions and theme messages how to prepare for the challenges every bible-believing Christian will face. Indeed, a Christian life can be likened to a war and a race. I thank God for the opportunity to strengthen my doctrinal foundation. I have also been greatly blessed by the dorm fellowships which reminded me that I am not alone in this spiritual journey. Joel Chan

I have learnt many lessons, how to be a good soldier, athlete/runner and protector of the faith. I have also learnt how terrible spiritual lethargy is, and as I reflect on this year, I find that many times, I have backslided from the Lord and been spiritually lethargic. I pray that I will not slip back into this state again. I pray that as we go back to worldly Singapore, I will apply and remember the lessons I have learnt here. Dae Ern

One reminder from the theme message is that Christianity involves a whole lot of suffering and pain. I thank God for putting trials in my life the past year. Through them I learned to draw closer to God and trust Him more and more. The workshop on Bible- Presbyterian doctrines helped me to see how little I know about the faith. Now I have an even greater desire to know more of His Word. This camp has convicted me of my many sins. I knelt down, confessed all my sins, and prayed for God’s forgiveness. I really felt relieved after I prayed. This camp was an opportunity to get to know brethren I did not really know. Through meals, group sharing, fellowships, I have gotten to know them better. Junji Nakajima

Thank God for these four days of spiritual retreat, away from the cares of the world, away from all internet-related distractions, to be with brethren of likeminded faith. It has been a blessed time of bonding over various activities, sharings, and giving of testimonies. I am taught it is truly sinful to ignore God, and saw how often I’ve sinned against God in half- hearted service. May the Lord have mercy and grant much grace. I look forward to the next camp. Andrew Kan

I thank God for messages and for His Word convicting me and rebuking me of my state of spiritual lethargy and indifference. Praise God also for the workshop which reinforced my knowledge and understanding in the doctrines that we as Christians ought to believe in and defend, especially in such perilous times. Indeed it has shown me that without the right doctrine, we wouldn’t be able to live our lives obediently unto the Lord, thus rendering us useless for His service. Benjamin Kan

The workshop on Bible-Presbyterianism was very useful as we methodically discussed our distinctive doctrines and practices and how we are different from other churches and denominations. I have met my objectives for this camp, to be spiritually refreshed and recharged. I pray that I will not just be on a “spiritual high” only immediately after this camp but that I will be consistent in my spiritual life, even to do my Quiet Time regularly and to meditate on God’s Word. Jerald Tan

This camp was really meaningful and beneficial to me. I learnt much from it and I’m really glad that I drew closer to God. I thank God also for the fellowship that I had with fellow saints, especially during dorm fellowships. I learnt that actually I am not the only one who struggles with my friends, especially when I try to tell them the gospel of Jesus Christ. I learnt that it’s just part and parcel of a Christian life. I also grew to understand that this little “rejection” from my friends is nothing compared to what God went through when He was rejected by the people whom He came to save. Moreover, we are to please God and not man. Joy Teo

Through the messages, fellowship and games, I realised there is so much more to learn from the Word of God and I am driven to want to know more. I thank God also for the awesome food that we all had throughout the whole camp. There was never once that we went hungry. Thank God for the good location of the resort, away from the distractions of this world so that we can all focus on our walk with the Lord. The camp had been very spiritually encouraging and it was truly a blessed one. Richmond Go

I want to thank God for giving me the opportunity to join the YPF camp for the second time. I learned a lot from the morning devotions as well as from the theme messages, how not to be spiritually lethargic as it is a wicked sin and how I as a Christian should be faithful to the end. I also learnt from the object lessons and from the other campers through their sharing in discussions and dorm fellowship. I got to know people whom I didn’t really know or spoke to at church, and the shepherd and sheep game really encouraged me both from my shepherd and sheep. Thessa Lagapa

The activities of the camp were all very enriching for fellowship. Christian fellowship was something that I now truly understand in this camp. Last time, the fact that I was so much different (in terms of nationality, being home-schooled, etc), and that we have nothing to talk about caused me to withdraw from talking to anyone. But now it dawned on me that despite all our differences we all have something in common—the experience of

God’s great mercy and love towards us. This helped me realise that Christian fellowship is not talking about things that you feel like talking about but it is sharing, encouraging and praying for one another with a loving and understanding spirit. Theya Lagapa

As assistant dorm IC, I really thank God for giving me the strength to wake up first every morning despite being the last, or one of the last, to go to sleep, and to be able to wake everyone else up on time as well. The activities that were planned were also fun and interesting, and I am glad that I learnt a spiritual lesson from each of them which was extremely relevant and applicable in life, especially living in times like these. Overall, I really thank God for making this a very amazing experience for me. Cae Ryn

It is always a blessing to go for YPF Camp each year. Truly, it is good and pleasant for brethren to dwell in unity (Psalm 133:1). Thank the Lord for the parents who attended this camp. Their labour of love to us has been good examples for us to learn from. Seeing Pastor, Pr Joshua and other adults helping to clean the place was a humbling experience for me. Candice Tan

A solid Christian camp is one I believe will, by God’s grace, make you want to live like you were still in it even when it’s over. For me, this holds true as I leave Mersing back into the hustle and bustle of Singapore. Thank God for a good theme that really reminded me of the importance of our spiritual walk, doctrinal standings and to have utmost faith in God. Ben Lim

In camp I really learned lots of things from Pastor Jeffrey and Preacher Joshua Yong as they preached the messages. Thank God that I can fellowship with our church family. I thank God for helping me through school this year and He has helped me through my PE, swimming, maths and He has really helped me through my German dictations. I thank God for giving me the strength to help me to wake up in the morning. God willing, we can go back to Mersing next year. Praise God! Eyan Ern
