FAITH ALIVE!
Church Camp 2013 Testimonies
Faith Alive
10 June to 14 June 2013 we went,
Where Khao Lak Seaview Resort we camped.
There our taste-buds were entertained,
More importantly, our spiritual faith was strengthened again.
We thank God for our pastor, Rev Dr Jeffrey Khoo,
Who expounded God’s Word from the Book of James.
I am thankful and grateful,
For, at this camp, I have my doubtful thoughts clarified.
The glory of God is further magnified!
I have learned:
With true faith, we are born again; Henceforth we are changed.
A true faith is an obedient faith, full of charity,
Producing good works according to the will of the Almighty;
God controls our tongue, in true faith,
“Swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath” is displayed.
Faith increases when we respond to testing and trials,
With gladness, and meekness;
A true faith helps us to be more and more of Christ and less and less of worldliness;
God must be in the picture whenever and whatever we plan,
So God’s blessings are always at hand.
Oh Lord, May thou help us not to waver!
May the Lord find us faithful forever!

The Nearest Thing to Paradise
Pastor Jeffrey Khoo delivered his messages centred on the theme of faith. Is our faith true or false? Although we are justified by faith, faith without works is dead. The Bible does not contradict itself. Even demons believe and tremble. The message is clear. We must be doers not just hearers only. True Faith = Salvation + Works. We must understand this doctrine of salvation (Jas 2:24)
One day after dinner I watched a storm brewing over the Andaman Sea and reflected over what pastor had said. Yes there are many areas in my life that I have to change. Pastor answered many questions in the Q & A session before we left Khao Lak. His answers were sharp and always quoting Scripture. I had learnt much.
I thank God for the wisdom and blessings that I have received from this camp. As we said goodbye to the many friends and guests—Rev Nguyen Gia Hien, Rev Errol Stone, Dr Wee Tiong Soon, to name a few—we look forward to our camp next year. The excellent buffet meals varied with a distinct Thai flavour together with the spiritual food we enjoyed was the nearest thing to paradise. Dr Maurice Chew
Everything Was Just Perfect
I love every minute of our church camp because everything was just perfect, from the food to the beautiful surroundings to our well-appointed restful rooms.
I am also thankful for the sermons preached, especially from the Book of James. One of the take-home messages from James is do not despise those who are lesser than you. I also find the video presentations on the overseas missions very helpful to my understanding of the missionaries’ work.
I am also thankful that my brother was able to join us for this camp, and got to enjoy a break overseas as he does not like to travel. I am thankful that my brother attended almost all the sermons at the camp and did not need any reminders from me to keep to the timetable. I hope he will always feel at home worshipping at True Life. I hope church members will not mind to continue to pray for him. This will give us hope that he will recover and one day will be well enough again. Lim Chwuui Chwee
A Foretaste of Heaven
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity” (Ps 133:1). Truly our church camp at Khaolak seaside resort was good and pleasant. I had such a wonderful and blessed time being fed daily with God’s Word from faithful and true servants of God, fellowship with and getting to know more brethren, good food in the midst of the beauty of God’s Creation. Yes, it was a foretaste of heaven on earth.
The theme, “Faith Alive,” taken from the Epistle of James with its seven theme messages on my faith in the Lord came as a timely reminder of how I must not only be a hearer but also a doer of His Word, to believe in Him and to live for Him.
I thank the Lord for Pastor, the Campmaster and his committee for their tireless work and enthusiasm for making this church camp one of the best that I have ever attended. I have found true rest indeed for my body and soul during this retreat. Shirley Ho
Richly Blessed by God’s Word
We really thank God and True Life BPC for kindly inviting and enabling my family and me to join True Life Church Camp at Khao Lak this year with a very challenging and practical theme “Faith Alive”. We have been richly blessed by God’s Word through all the faithful preaching and through the morning devotional messages. We also thank God for the blessed fellowship with True Lifers and like-minded brethren. May the Lord graciously help us bear the good fruits of His true children with a saving faith, living faith, enduring faith, obedient faith, charitable faith, separate faith, and longsuffering faith until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again. Amen. Rev and Mrs Nguyen Gia Hien, and children Hanh and Timothy
The Lord Is True to His Word
We greatly desired to attend this camp as we had missed the previous one due to the birth of Hadassah. However, we were concerned as Hadassah was barely a year old and this would be her first flight as well as ours as parents. We committed our desire to the Lord and were reminded of our wedding verse: “But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). By faith, we signed up for the camp, trusting that the Lord will provide for all our needs as He had promised in His perfect Word.
Throughout the camp, the Lord is true to His Word. From the journey from Singapore to the resort in Khao Lak to the stay there and finally to the trip back to Singapore, God never failed to provide. What is most precious to us is the way in which God taught us spiritual lessons. Not only did the Lord teach us on what it means to have “Faith Alive” through His servant our beloved Pastor, He also taught us to apply what we have learnt throughout the camp. How we react to tribulations and inconveniences (thought, word and deed) will determine what kind of faith we have. We are constantly reminded from the messages that we must humble ourselves and pray for God’s strength to have “a faith that works”. Herbert and Zuyi
An Answered Prayer
The church camp has been a blessing to me. It happened to be an answered prayer since I desired not only to see another country but also to learn God’s Word. It was also a great privilege for me to get the opportunity to learn from the book of James during the FEBC holidays.
The sight of the sea waves there and the story of 2004 tsunami reminded me of Jesus’ words to Peter when he saw the waves in Matthew 14:30-31, “O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?” I too needed faith. The theme messages and devotion messages were refreshing, reviving, and rebuking to me. It is my prayer that God will help me take Him at His Word to obey, love and submit to His perfect Law. Thanks for the Christian fellowship in True Life BPC. Shadrack Cheruiyot
A Fruitful Time of Learning
“But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.” (Mark 6:4). I give thanks to God for Pastor Jeffrey Khoo for being the theme speaker. God used him to profit my soul. From the messages to the Q & A session, it was a fruitful time of learning God’s Word. He was pastoral both on and off the pulpit. I would also like to give thanks to God for Dn Beng Lee and his committee in how they handled challenges very well to give all campers a seamless camp experience. All praise and thanks to God.
