Besides ministering to the Chinese Congregation with spiritual songs, the Chinese Choir sings at Worship Services from time to time and on special occasions such as Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Church Anniversary, Christmas and Chinese New Year. To prepare for these presentations, the choir meets at 12:30 p.m. in Room 604 after the Sunday Worship Service for practice.
Preparation of the heart is also very important. John Calvin said, “it is necessary to remember that which St. Paul hath said, the spiritual songs cannot be well sung save from the heart”. To prepare our hearts, we invite our Pastor to give us a short exhortation based on the theme of the hymn we are going to present. This is done before our final rehearsal on the day of presentation. Through this, choir members glean precious doctrines from the hymns.
We welcome Church members seeking an area of service to join the Chinese Choir. Do not worry if you cannot read Chinese characters well. We append Han Yu Pin Yin (汉语拼音)to the lyrics to help you read and pronounce.
