EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE
“From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD’S name is to be praised.” (Ps 113:3). Praise the Lord for a blessed Easter Sunrise Service last Lord’s Day. Since 2004 we have been using Labrador Park for our early morning Easter services. We thank the Lord for clear blue skies and sunshine as we worship Him out in the open in the beauty of His Creation, with the trees to shade us and the sea before us.
We thank the National Parks for kind permission to use the grounds. However, this year, they did not allow amplifiers and microphones. This means the preacher and his interpreter had to work harder to speak loudly so that all 400 could hear. We thank the Lord that everything went well and the people, especially those at the back, could follow the proceedings and hear the Word preached. The homiletics training received from Rev Timothy Tow in FEBC was put to practice. He taught us, “Speak with your ears!”
Praise the Lord for the 16 who were baptised, the eight who reaffirmed their faith, and eight who transferred their membership. It was a joy to see Roger See together with his children Timothy and Emilyn confessing faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and baptised. Desy his dear wife, already a believer and baptised, has been praying for his salvation and her children’s. Surely this was an answer to prayer. This is also another testimony of God’s providential hand in saving the whole household as He promised. Acts 16:31, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”
We are happy also for Sok Sin’s father—Mr Tan Cheng Hock—from the Chinese service publicly confessing faith in Christ. We pray for the three baby girls who were presented for baptism by their believing parents that they too might know the Lord as their personal Saviour as they grow up in covenant homes. “Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.” (Mark 10:14).
After His resurrection, Jesus prepared breakfast for His disciples one early morning by the Sea of Galilee (John 21). It is the custom of True Lifers to have breakfast together as a Church family after Easter Sunday Service. The catered breakfast all prepared and ready by 8.30 was served nice and hot. What truly hit the spot for me was the Chai Tau Kuay (Chinese carrot cake) supplied by Ming Kuang and Lai Peng. The breakfast fellowship was indeed sweet, a foretaste of heaven.
Have you eaten the Bread of Life? Jesus is the Bread of Life. Jesus said, “I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.” (John 6:51). Jesus invites all, “Come and dine” (John 21:9-13). Jesus says, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” (Rev 3:20). JK
EASTER TESTIMONIES
Only God Knows What Is Best for Me
I was brought up in a traditional Chinese family. I was placed in a Buddhist school to complete my primary school education. In school, I was taught Buddhist prayers and chanting. When I was in secondary school, I lost touch with Buddhism. I gradually became a free thinker. I always believed that no one can help me but I myself. As long as I work hard, I will be able to succeed in anything I do. My life was in a mess during that time. I was arrogant, hot tempered, and unfriendly.
I came to know about Christ when I knew Desy my wife in 1997. She introduced me to the Bible. She shared the gospel on how Christ shed His precious blood to save us. But my heart was still hardened with my foolish free-thinking philosophy. She started to bring me to True Life B-P Church. No matter how focused I was in listening to the messages, I did not understand a single word. I almost gave up and told her that it was not for me to believe in Christ. She asked me to pray to God for guidance to help me understand the words of God. Finally after 12 years, God answered my prayer. I started to see God’s miracles happening around me. My siblings, colleagues used to be pessimistic towards Christianity but not anymore. My worries and problems, one by one, were taken away from me. At that moment, I knew God was showing His love and mercy towards me. I then decided to surrender my life to God. Only He knows what is best for me. Now my hope is built on only what Jesus did for me on the cross. Roger See
I Want to Preach Jesus Christ to Everyone
My parents brought me to True Life B-P Church every Sunday since I was young. I studied three years at Far Eastern Kindergarten. Even then, I did not believe in Christ. I also attended the Vacation Bible School, and my first church camp was in 2009 in Mersing. I learnt a lot about Christianity and also made some friends.
My mother introduced me to Jesus Christ by reading to me a Bible story every night. At first I told my mother that if Adam and Eve had not existed, sin would not have started and our lives would be much better. But she told me that if they did not exist we would not exist also. I came to truly believe in Jesus Christ when I learnt about the pillar of salt in Sodom and Gomorra one day.
I want to be a Christian because I want my behaviour to change. I want to teach people about the Real God, Jesus Christ. I do not want to suffer in hell forever and obey Satan but follow the Lord Jesus Christ to heaven. I want to preach to everyone and pray to Jesus to let them believe. When I sin against Him, I know I must ask for forgiveness so that my heart would be cleansed as white as snow. I do not want to have regrets anymore. So I want to believe in Jesus Christ. I will preach to everyone for Jesus Christ. Timothy See
I Thank God for Saving Me
My parents brought me to True Life B-P Church since I was very young and I learnt many things about God. I was too young. I did not know a single thing about God even though they brought me to church every Sunday. Four years ago, my parents, my brother and I went to the church camp at Mersing for the first time. I learnt lots of things about God. In the children’s class we learnt that Adam and Eve sinned against God. Therefore all of us also sinned and we need a Saviour.
I thank God for saving me. I want my behaviour to change. I want to tell people more about the Real God. I want people to know more about God and accept Jesus Christ as their Saviour. I do not want to be with Satan but I want to be with the True and Living God. I do not want to be tempted by Satan. I pray to God. When I sin against God He knows and we must ask God to forgive us. I wish to be in heaven forever.
Last time when my daddy was not a believer, the only thing I could do was to pray to God. I kept on praying and my prayer has been answered. I was so happy I prayed to God gratefully and thanked God. Emilyn See
EASTER GREETINGS FROM PHNOM PENH
Dear Rev Dr Jeffrey Khoo,
How are you? How is your family? Hope the Lord will grant to you more zeal and wisdom and strength to serve our Risen Lord Jesus.
We are doing good by God’s daily grace and I’m blessed with all the online lectures and my time with the Lord’s disciples here in our weekday learning and weekend worship and fellowship. Meeting people and evangelising seems to be going well even though the people do not come to join us. Yet the gospel seed has been sown.
Thank you for your weekly lectures that really teach me a lot of things that I can’t describe. Spending time at the feet of Jesus and fellowshipping with Him is the best time I ever had. All the worries of this world are taken away and the living water starts to flow from within my soul. How sweet is the Word of our God.
Sometimes I wonder why I want to do many things (great things) for the Lord but He does not allow me to do so. But now I start to realise my time is to study God’s Word more and start focusing on evangelism. People die everyday here in Cambodia. At least five people die in accidents every day, most of them dying without hearing the Good News. Please pray for me and Nam Soon to really spend more time on this task.
As tomorrow is a special day, Easter Day, we pray and wish True Life BPC and FEBC a blessed Easter. May the Lord grant all of you more zeal and joy to preach the Resurrected Christ our Lord to the unsaved world. May the Lord grant FEBC more confidence in preaching the pure Word of God and defend His inerrant Word.
In Him, Sun Sokha.
