50 EVENTS OF PASSION WEEK
“Passion Week” or “Holy Week” is the final week of Christ’s life on earth culminating in His crucifixion and inhumation and preceding His resurrection. The word “passion” according to Chambers Dictionary means “power of feeling pain or suffering.” Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ felt a lot of pain and went through great suffering in His life. The pain and suffering intensified during His final days on earth and reached its height when He was nailed to the cross. He suffered pain and death in order to save us from our sins. “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit” (1 Pet 3:18).
Thus, Passion Week as observed today begins with Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and ends with His death and burial just outside of Jerusalem on Good Friday.
Just as our Lord rode triumphantly into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, He departed from it even more so on Easter Sunday when He rose victoriously from the grave conquering death once and for all.
I would encourage you to follow the steps of Jesus day by day by reading all 50 biblical accounts listed below as you prepare yourself for the worship services on Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
