CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL
Mrs Jemima Khoo
“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Prov 22:6). We are to create a taste or desire in our children for the things of God, according to his mental and physical development and when he is correctly nurtured in the things of God, his eventual desire will be to cling to them.
As parents, we have a duty to bring up our children in God’s way. By bringing them to Sunday school, we instil in them the importance of studying God’s Word. If we come when we feel like it or come in late, it will instil a “come-when-we-feel-like- it” attitude with our children when it comes to church activities. It just requires a little effort to come to church just an hour earlier on Sundays. Just as we send our children to school on time, please also send your children to Sunday school on time. And by coming to both the Sunday school and Church Service regularly, we show our children that we are serious with God’s Word and want them to learn as much as they can.
The Sunday school at True Life caters not only to children but also to Teens and Adults. We welcome one and all to join in!
Here are some testimonies from the Children’s Sunday school:
“I like the stories that I hear from my teachers. I learn many important things like Jesus dying on the cross for my sins and that I will have eternal life one day.”
Patrick Soh, 8
“So far in Sunday school, I learnt about Abraham, Moses, and Joshua and almost all the books of the Old Testament. I also learnt about Jesus the Son of God and how He came to earth and then died on the cross for our sins.”
Tai Eyan Ern, 8
“I like Sunday school because I can learn a lot of interesting things about the Bible e.g. Kings, prophets, miracles. The teachers are kind and I can meet my Sunday school friends.” Janna Aw, 9
“I like Sunday school as I can learn many lessons from the Bible stories that are told and apply them in my life in order to be more like Him, to be a good testimony to my friends around me so that they can see Christ in me.” Anne Chan, 11
“I like Sunday school because I get to learn about God. I read the Bible and sing songs to praise God and I can go to heaven when I die.” Han Ghim Seu, 11
“I enjoy coming to Sunday school to learn many lessons from the Bible and I try to apply them in my life to draw closer to God. I am also reminded to read His Word and pray during difficult situations. I also learn how to grow in grace and have more faith in God.” Tan Li Ann, 11
“What I like about Sunday school is the Bible stories. I learn deeper truths behind them such as the Parable of the Pounds (spread the Gospel before He comes), the Barren Fig Tree (bear good fruit for God), and the Prodigal Son (what happens when we go astray).” Thaddaeus Wong, 12
“I enjoy coming to Sunday school as we can learn of God’s Word and read the Bible together. We learn about true stories from the Bible. We also can have fellowship with friends. From Sunday school I learn a lot like growing in grace spiritually. Praise God!” Trina Ng, 12
ADULTS FELLOWSHIP
William and Rachel Teo
We are thankful to the Lord for the 8th anniversary of the Adults Fellowship. We thank our Heavenly Father for His faithfulness in sustaining us these eight years.
The Adults Fellowship has its humble beginnings at our home eight years ago when our children were very young, Sarah was just six years old and Jeremy was four years old. How time flies! As our children were very young then and found it difficult to understand when we were studying Church History, the Lord gave Sister Jenny Kan the burden to set up a special class for them to teach them God’s Word. We are very grateful to Sister Jenny for her labour of love in teaching our children and also other children who joined the group. Both adults and children were fed with the Word of God each month we met.
We also thank God for faithful ministers of God’s Word whom the Lord has provided. There was never a time when we were without speakers. Somehow, the Lord has provided speakers for us in spite of their very busy schedule. We have completed our study of the “Ten Commandments” by Rev Quek Suan Yew of Calvary Pandan BPC. Currently we are studying “The Tabernacle” under Rev Stephen Khoo. It is not too late for you to join us for this study.
The highlight of the year was our annual Christmas Caroling held in December to bring the gospel to unsaved loved ones and to encourage the family members of our brethren. We thank God for opening two homes for us to minister God’s Word to at our last Christmas caroling on 15 December 2012. Elder John Leong of Tabernacle BPC was the speaker and Dn Tai Mern Yee led in the Christmas caroling. We thank God for the opportunity to reach out to Brother Meng’s brother-in-law and to fellowship with his mother and sister. We also visited Dr Maurice Chew’s father-in-law. Elder Leong preached the gospel to both Dr Chew’s father-in-law and mother-in-law and some of the sisters shared the gospel with Dr Chew’s sister-in-law.
Last year, we gave love gifts to Baraka BPC, FEBC, BCEA (Kenya), Preacher Rajan of Kathmandu BPC in Nepal and Rev Biak Lawm Thang of Myanmar in support of missions.
Finally, thank God for providing and preserving this fellowship as a means of grace for us to grow spiritually in the Lord. As a spiritual family, we can support one another in prayer and serve the Lord together. It is our prayer that the Lord will continue to lead and guide us as we seek to grow in faith and in the knowledge of Him. May the Lord help us to study His Word diligently and to know Him deeply in our lives that we may glorify Him in all that we do. We hope you can come and join us in future that we can have fellowship together and encourage one another in the Lord.
