EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE AT LABRADOR PARK, 7 AM

The Garden Tomb, Jerusalem
“He is not here, but is risen.” (Luke 24:6)
Baptism Testimonies
I was born in 1949 into a Buddhist family. We went to our kampong temple practically every day because it was just a stone’s throw away from our home. It was very convenient for us to go to the temple. Church service at that time was not so readily available. We were also too young to choose any other religion other than what our parents wanted us to believe in.
It was only at the end of 2004 that I was introduced to True Life Bible-Presbyterian Church by my daughter. Since then my family has attended the church service regularly every Sunday. Because I work five and a half days in a week, I am able to spare my Sunday as a family gathering day at church. Christianity strengthened the bond of our family relationships.
I came to hear of the gospel of Jesus Christ when I first attended the Sunday School at True Life Bible-Presbyterian Church. Through hearing the gospel, I came to know that Jesus is the Son of God. He came to die for our sins and the blood of Jesus can wash away our sins.
When I was seriously ill on 5 January 2006, I really considered taking up Christianity as my religion. The reason is because I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God and he died for my sins and he is my Saviour. When I sang the hymn cheerfully in the church and found that everybody seemed to forget their worries or sadness, I desired Jesus to be my personal Lord and saviour.
On the eve of my major liver tumour operation at SGH, my daughter asked Dr S H Tow to pray for a successful operation and speedy recovery. Dr Tow came to the SGH hospital and prayed for me. Dr Tow shared the gospel with my wife and me and led us in the sinner’s prayer.
I thank God for giving me a successful operation and speedy recovery. I also thank those who were sent by God to visit me at the hospital to give me courage and moral support during my days of recovery.
Christianity allows us to foster a good relationship with God because God is now my loving heavenly Father and I’m now a child of God. In this way, we are accepted by God and can live with Him in Heaven forever and ever and have everlasting life after we die.
I am now seeking for baptism because I want to show that I have finally accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour.

I come from a non-Christian family. At least once a year, we would go to the temple to seek blessings for my study. I had to follow, albeit blindly. My parents did not know much about the idols in the temple too. I can recall my grandma guiding us a few times.
I have never been to a church. The Easter morning of 2002 was my first time because my mother drove my sister and I to Life Bible-Presbyterian Church at Gilstead Road. Subsequently, my mother would bring us there every week. I joined the Children Sunday School every Sunday after that till I turned 13. During the lessons, I learnt that Jesus is Almighty; He is omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient. I also learnt that He was a compassionate person and He healed the sick, helped the poor and preached the gospel. I also found out that He has promised us mansions in heaven as said in John 14:1-2: “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.”
I was overjoyed when I knew that the Lord has prepared a place for me in heaven. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” This verse left a deep impression on me. It led me to believe in Him. I trust in Him in everything I do and He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. I also know that He is everywhere to protect me and I can look to Him in prayer, anytime and anywhere.
Praise the Lord for choosing me as His blessed child. Amen.

My name is Way Tan. I am 8 years old. My name Way is “biblically inspired,” said my mom. For Jesus saith: “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” John 14:6.
I come from a family whereby only my mom is a Christian. My dad is not only a non-believer, he is also very much against Christianity. My mom used to sing hymns to me when I was growing up. She would also read the Bible to me.
When I was 3 years old, my mom shared the gospel with me. I was very sad when I heard how the Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God came down to this earth to die on Calvary’s cross for my sins and that of the world. I cried when I heard how they put the crown of thorns on His head and then nailed Him to the cross. It must be very painful. Without hesitation, I accepted the Lord Jesus into my life and recited the sinner’s prayer.
My dad was not happy when I tried to reach out to him at that time. My mom and I went through lots of hardship at home. My dad did not allow us to go to church on Sunday. My mom will be very sad every Sunday because she longs to go to church to worship God. So we prayed and prayed. I cried out to the Lord Jesus and told Him my desire to go to church. God answered my prayers. Last year in May, after more than 7 years of mini worship and much prayer in my bedroom, the Lord opened the door for us to attend True Life B-P Church. My dad will be very angry when it comes to Sunday. He still is but I sense it is slightly better now. I pray for his salvation everyday. And so my testimony at home is very important.
My aspiration is to become a pastor when I grow up. I want to serve the Lord. God has changed my life. I can never thank God enough for the blessings He has blessed me with. May God be merciful to my dad. I pray that one day we can come to church to worship as a family. I thank God for my mom. She is my pillar of strength that God has blessed me with.
All praise and glory to God!

I was born in the Philippines and was brought up with Catholic beliefs. I thought that going to church on Sundays and doing good works would be sufficient for salvation.
However, I was brought to realise that God has done so much for me. He gave His only begotten Son to redeem us and to save us from our sins. Though life has been tough for me thus far, I realise that He would be there with me, to carry me through all the hardships and difficulties as I have trusted Him to be my personal Lord and Saviour.
I thank God that I am able to know Him and to learn His Word so that I may walk in the fear and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
All glory and praise to God!

Since young till the age of 51, I used to believe and tell myself that there is only one God in this world and all religions lead to the same God. At that time, most of my relatives and friends are Buddhists though some of them are Christians. No matter which religion you believe in, I believed they teach you to be good. But I realised that most of the Christian characters are not as good as the Buddhists. Therefore I tell myself that I will never listen to them, because they are so selfish and they always criticized other religions. So I did not give Christians any chance to share God’s words with me.
It was until few years back when my daughter faced with some personal problems. I saw that she was very depressed because she couldn’t find anyone who could help her. She knew that God was the only one who could help her and so I saw her praying day and night. We, my husband and I, were thinking that since we couldn’t offer much help, we can only help her by praying and asking God for help on her behalf. So I started praying to the God that my daughter believes in.
One day, my daughter invited us to the B-P Church which she attends every Sunday. We were curious to find out who this God, whom we have been praying to, is. So we went with her. Since then we followed her to worship God in church every Sunday and we started to read and understand God’s words.
Besides Sunday Service, I followed my daughter to Mrs Foo’s house to join the YPF meetings. Those were the times I first heard of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus says, “I am your Saviour, believe in me and you will be saved.”
This year January 2006, my husband was seriously ill and needed to be operated on for liver tumour. My daughter asked him whether he wanted Dr S H Tow to pray for him before his operation. Surprisingly, he agreed. His answer really shocked me because coming from a strong Buddhism background, he would have rejected that offer. But he didn’t at that moment. I could understand his feeling, as he found himself helpless then. Even the doctor cannot assure him of a successful operation. So as a wife, I supported his decision. At that moment I remembered what Jesus said. He said, “I am your Saviour, believe in me and you will be saved.” So I told him that we have to believe and love the Lord, then we will be saved by Him. When Dr Tow arrived, before he prayed for us, he asked us a question, “Do you believe in Jesus?” We both answered, “Yes.” Dr Tow then led us in the sinner’s prayer. From that moment I knew that Jesus has become my personal Lord and Saviour for the rest of my life. I thank God for taking care of my husband during the operation and after the operation. My husband need not go to the ICU (intensive care unit) after the major operation.
After all that has happened, I realised that the only God in my heart is the one who created this world and He has sent His Son Jesus Christ to save me by dying on the cross for my sins and His blood can cleanse away all my sins. On the third day after He was crucified, He rose again. When we believe in Jesus Christ, we become God’s children, and He will be with us forever and give us everlasting life.

I was diagnosed with colon cancer five years ago. The doctor gave me only a 50/50 chance of recovery if I opt to go for the operation. I opted out, leaving myself with no chance to recover and I was very afraid.
My daughter, being a Christian, shared with me how Christ had suffered for us by dying on the cross to redeem us from our sins. From birth, we were already sinners and the only way to heaven is to believe and follow Him. “For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
I prayed to God to save me from all my sufferings and guide me towards the direction that I should go. I am glad that He has answered.
