CHRISTIAN HOME OF LOVE

“As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen” (1 Peter 4:10-11, KJV).

PRAISE GOD for calling and equipping us in His service. Indeed, it is a privilege and a blessing to serve the only living and true God, the King of kings and the Lord of lords.

For this, we thank God for the faithful teaching of the Word of God we received from our Alma Mater, the Far Eastern Bible College, and from our beloved Principal, Rev (Dr) Timothy Tow, who was called Home to glory on April 20th, 2009, whom God had used so marvellously for the proclamation and the defence of His infallible and inerrant Word, verbally and plenarily inspired and perfectly preserved down through the centuries for His people in the Hebrew Old Testament and the Greek New Testament underlying the Authorised (King James) Version of the English Bible. Thank God for the good fight of faith that our beloved Principal, Rev (Dr) Timothy Tow, had fought for the Lord while on earth.

Both Dara and I are always very thankful to God for raising up Rev Timothy Tow to start the Bible-Presbyterian movement and the Far Eastern Bible College in Singapore. It was through Rev Tow that I was given a place to study in the Far Eastern Bible College, where I was trained and equipped to serve God who called me into the full-time ministry. God had indeed used Rev Timothy Tow so mightily in so many ways, especially in building up the lives of so many servants of God, including Dara and me. If not for Rev Timothy Tow, I know very well that I would not be able to be trained theologically in a fundamental Bible College, not to say about serving God, as no college would accept one who had no academic qualifications like me.

Thank God for Rev Timothy Tow. He is indeed a man of God who had given his life for the cause of Christ. Dara and I are greatly challenged by his life and teaching and we are telling everyone here in the Church and in the Christian Home of Love to follow after Rev Tow’s godly example. We will not forget the instructions that we had received from Rev Tow and our Alma Mater, especially to “earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints” (Jude 3, KJV), “building up [ourselves] on [our] most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost” (Jude 20, KJV).

God has called us not only to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ but has also given us the responsibility to equip the local believers in His service. The apostle Paul says in 2 Timothy 2:2, “And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also” (KJV).

The Lord is good. We are glad to see Isaac stepping forward to serve God in our church. He is now serving as a Lahu interpreter on Sunday worship. John, our church deacon, chairs the worship service in the Thai language and Isaac interprets for him into Lahu. I still preach every Lord’s Day and Dara interprets for me. Grace, our church deaconess, also serves in the children Sunday School. Do continue to pray for the spiritual growth of our church.

John, Isaac and Grace are also serving faithfully in the Christian Home of Love every day. Besides their daily responsibilities, they also have to find time to study. Grace has to sit for an examination in August. John and Isaac will have theirs in September. May God help them in their studies and continue to empower them in His service. Do uphold them in prayer. Do pray also for me, for the ministries in the Church and the Christian Home of Love, and my preparation and the preaching of the Word of God every Lord’s day, every church prayer meeting and every family worship.

Thank God. Dara’s thesis advisors have finally gone through her teaching materials and given her the approval to go ahead. Starting this week, Dara has begun teaching the English language in the two government schools to the kindergarten students as part of the requirements for her course. She needs to teach every morning, one hour a day in each school, for a month, covering 20 lessons altogether. Please pray for her, for wisdom in teaching and for her students in picking up the language.

Thank God also that Evangel and Evangeline are improving in their studies and personal responsibilities. Do pray for them in their home-schooling as well as for their spiritual growth and physical developments. Children in the Christian Home of Love have gone back to school. Do pray for their studies and for both their spiritual and physical wellbeing.

Far Eastern Bible College

FEBC commenced its new academic term with a day of prayer and registration on 20 July 2009 at the Shalom Chapel of Calvary Tengah Bible-Presbyterian Church in Choa Chu Kang. July 20th is exactly three months since FEBC’s Founding Principal—the Rev Dr Timothy Tow—went home to be with the Lord. Testimonies by the faculty were given in memory of him, especially by his wife, the Matron—Mrs Ivy Tow—who shared about the hardships the Rev Timothy Tow had to go through in the founding years of the College; how the College had nothing when it started, only three stools for three students with the Principal as the only teacher, and no food and no beds. But the Rev Tow had faith in the Lord and encouraged his students with these words from Psalm 34:10, “The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.” The Lord was faithful to provide in double quick time! Food came from Dr Tow Siew Ai and beds from Chin Lien Seminary. Today, FEBC is being tried and tested like never before. There are people who are keen to see FEBC put down because of her belief in a 100% perfect Bible without any mistake in keeping with the Dean Burgon Oath. Mrs Tow encouraged the FEBC family with this verse from the Lord, “Ye shall not fear them: for the LORD your God he shall fight for you” (Deut 3:22). Indeed, “He being dead yet speaketh” (Heb 11:4).

Dr Paul Ferguson who was recently conferred the Doctor of Religious Education (DRE) degree by the Graduate School of Foundations Bible College (USA) was the Lord’s messenger. He spoke from 2 Timothy 3 on how as Christians we need to believe in the absolute certainty and perfection of God’s inspired and preserved words in order to face a world full of temptations and uncertainties. Dr Ferguson will teach Biblical Apologetics this semester which is part of his pedagogical requirements for his Doctor of Theology (ThD) degree at FEBC.

This semester we have 13 new full-time students from 11 countries: Panuwat Chalongkuamdee (Thailand), Kenny Cheong (Australia), Douglas Ho (Singapore), Ibrahim Njuguna Kiarie (Kenya), Eric Lufungi Kambale (Congo), Anya Kera (Nagaland), Trinipilo Garsuta Lagapa (Philippines), Lin Yang (China), Peter Mutua Maurice (Kenya), Marilyn Nanta (Sarawak), Nguyen Truong Chien (Vietnam), Charles Kipyegon Sang (Kenya), and Song Sun Taek (Korea). We thank the Lord for each one of them.

The FEBC Board and Faculty are fully committed to the work of training faithful men and women to fulfil the Great Commission of Jesus Christ (Matt 28:18-20) which is, in the words of the Rev Dr Timothy Tow, “the first commandment of Christ to His Church.” Please pray for the Lord’s deliverance of FEBC from the hands of those who seek to undermine and destroy its faithful witness and defence of God’s forever infallible and inerrant words, even the inspired and preserved Hebrew and Greek Scriptures on which the Authorised King James Version is based. And to those who would remove ancient property markers already set in stone, the Lord God has this severe warning: “Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set” (Prov 22:28); “Remove not the old landmark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless: For their redeemer is mighty; he shall plead their cause with thee” (Prov 23:10-11); “Cursed be he that removeth his neighbour’s landmark. And all the people shall say, Amen” (Deut 27:17).
